3 lighthouse keepers welcome you into the theatre.
The musician welcomes you too.
On-stage, there is a big lighthouse made of curtains and a pole.
The play begins when one lighthouse keeper and the musician sing.
The second lighthouse keeper sings close to the audience and swims to the lighthouse.
The third lighthouse keeper is discovered inside the lighthouse.
The lighthouse keepers show their lanterns to you. The lanterns can change colour and float around. The keepers are surprised.
The keepers sing their morning song and open the lighthouse. They pull the curtains down and put them away.
The musician interrupts the keepers by playing an accordion which sounds like a ship’s horn in the fog. The keepers hear the horn and light the beacon at the top of the pole to help the ship sail away safely. This happens several times.
The musician might come close to you to ask if you want to help them make the ship horn sound again. The keepers feel pleased to light the beacon every time they hear the horn.
The stage lights darken. It is night-time. The keepers sleep and one of them has a dream.
You might watch a dream about a journey to the moon.
You might watch a dream about a crab collecting things.
You might watch a dream about someone fighting a sea monster.
When the dream is finished, it is daytime. The keepers sing their morning song again and watch the sea.
The lighthouse creaks. The keepers look out the windows and see a storm coming.
The storm is noisy and it blows the keepers around. The keepers feel excited and scared.
The lighthouse floods. A big piece of fabric, like a big wave, washes onto stage from behind you. You might feel the fabric above your head.
The sea becomes calm and the keepers have fun swimming under the sea where things are silver and shiny.
It is night-time at the bottom of the sea. The keepers sleep and one of them has a dream.
You might watch a dream about a playful otter.
You might watch a dream about a dancing sea anemone.
You might watch a dream about a squashy starfish.
The keepers swim to the surface like silver sardines.
The keepers return to the lighthouse and light the beacon for you.
The keepers sing to you and help you leave the theatre to go on your own journey home.
